Terms of
service.
The rules for using HALO, in plain language.
These terms have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. They will be finalized before Phase 1 testers sign in — check back or ask in the HALO Discord if you need the current status.
What HALO is
HALO is software that runs on an Android head unit you own, in a car you own, reading data from your own vehicle's systems. It shows that data back to you on the head unit and on your phone. HALO listens; it does not change how your car works.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials to yourself and for the choices made under your account, including device pairing and anyone you grant access to a shared device. Tracking a vehicle you don't own, without the owner's consent, is illegal regardless of the tool — HALO is built for owners watching their own cars.
Subscription and billing
HALO is offered as a paid subscription, billed monthly or annually, with a free trial for eligible customers. Billing is handled by our payments provider; canceling stops future charges but doesn't retroactively refund a billing period already in progress unless we say otherwise.
No reverse engineering
You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, decoding methods, or internal workings of the HALO software or hardware, or to circumvent any technical measure protecting them, except to the extent a law that can't be waived by contract expressly permits it. This protects the work that makes HALO possible to keep building for every car in its library.
Acceptable use
Don't use HALO to track a vehicle without its owner's consent, to interfere with other users' accounts or devices, or to attempt unauthorized access to HALO's systems. We can suspend or terminate access for a violation of these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms or the privacy policy as HALO grows. Material changes will be announced, and your continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. Each version is dated so you can see exactly what changed.
